Meet Miss Jacobsen:

Miss Jacobsen is very excited to work with the wonderful students and teachers at BESIC again this year! She graduated from the University of Kansas in 2017 with a degree in Music Education. The music faculty there voted to award her the Hahn Award, naming her the “most outstanding future music educator.” She wrote a thesis on musical practice and graduated with her Masters in Music Education (M.M.E) in May of 2020. She was recently selected as the 2022-2023 Outstanding Elementary Music Teacher of the Year for the Northeast KMEA district!

Miss Jacobsen enjoys teaching music to all students. She completed one of her student teaching placements with a previous 6-12 Vocal Music Teacher here in Baldwin before getting her current job. She directs the High School Musical as well. This will be her 6th year! She previously chaired the NEKMEA District Elementary Choir for 2 years, KCDA All-State Treble Choir for 2 years, and is currently the assistant chair for the KMEA Elementary All-State Choir! She fills her time teaching private piano, ukulele, and guitar lessons as well as reading and watching true crime dramas. Miss Jacobsen resides in Lawrence with her dogs, Chloe and Benny.
